BARKER, Chris
Passed away peacefully in his sleep, unexpectedly, at the farm on Tuesday, 7th October 2025, aged 69 years. Deeply loved husband of Jan – her greatest supporter and dearest companion. Cherished dad of Kirsty and Jon, Craig and Zoe, Eugene, Ruth, and Megan. Adored Poppa to Keeley, Rylee, Max, Abby, Daytona, Quinn, Mila – and the baby on the way. Chris will be so deeply missed by his family, friends, and the many he touched around the world. A celebration of Chris’ life will be held at All Saints Church, Piopio, on Tuesday 14th October at 11am. In lieu of flowers, and in honour of Chris’ generous spirit, please consider donating to a charity you know he would have supported. Chris would say to us, “Kia kaha, kia mâia, kia manawanui.” Tributes can be left on our website www.vjwilliams.co.nz/funerals-tributes.

Hello, is there a link to Chris's funeral live stream please? Carolyn O'Dea can not attend in person as she is unwell. Thanks, Rachael
Jan and Family, So sorry to hear of Chris's sudden passing. Our thoughts and love are with you all at this sad time. So many nice memories of your holidays at the Heads. Barbara Jagger
My oldest cousin Chris. Sad that life took us in different directions but so glad that you took the time with Jan after your mum's death to catch up. I'll treasure that visit along with so many memories of the farm at karakariki and time spent with family. Rest in love Chris x
To Jan and family, Chris is a man that we have and will never forget. He gave us a great experience of NZ agriculture and with his expertise in fishing I caught my first rainbow trout with a piece of bread! Both of you visiting Orkney was lovely and there are still some ewes that come through which would have been lambs Chris helped to dock, we know them by their short tails!! Such welcoming and lovely people. Sending love and hugs from Robbie and Julia
